Friends & Family -

The past few months have welcomed some wonderful news! Here’s a look at what’s happening with our families, our fund, and our future.

Our Families:

We are thrilled to announce this past week Jill and Charlie finalized the adoption of their daughter Lola! Finalization is a major milestone for adoptive families. It means the adoption process is complete and they are legally her parents. Check out Jill’s post telling their story and explaining what your support has meant to them. “This season in our lives all comes down to today. In a few hours, all of the pain, heartache, tears, fear, sadness, and questioning will be washed away. Not forgotten by any means but made sense of. […] So many days and nights were spent praying for this moment. I know with every ounce of my being, God did not waste this season. This season went exactly as he had planned and because of it, I am staring at the face of the most beautiful, sleeping baby girl who He sent to be my daughter.”

We continue to keep in touch with our first family, Stephanie and Joseph! We ask for your prayers as they get closer to their finalization. To learn more about their story, you can visit Stephanie’s post.

"Finn is 6 months now and on the brink of crawling! He loves to eat and is growing like crazy. His dimples and smile continue to melt our hearts! He has his sisters wrapped around his finger, too. We recently learned that he doesn’t like Daddy’s deep voice (video below) and got a laugh out of that…followed by a quick snuggle to make sure he knew it was a joke! We hope to finalize in January. We had no idea it would take this long, but are trusting in God’s timing. We are so thankful for our sweet boy that completes our family!”

Because of your help, Disruptive Hope provided financial support for 2 more families (Brooke & Matt; Brianna & Tyler) to return to the adoption process after a disrupted match. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they approach this second season of waiting. Our Fund: In July we launched the Disruptive Hope Support Network to be an enduring community of disrupted match families. We currently have 24 families paired and providing emotional support in a challenging time. If you've adopted successfully after a disrupted match and would like to be paired with one of these families, please visit our blog post to learn more!

We want to help even more families financially, but there are currently more families in our network who need this help than Disruptive Hope has funds to give. To help close this gap, the Community Foundation of Cleveland & Bradley County has a donor willing to match up to $25,000 in Disruptive Hope donations by the end of 2022! If you’d like to spread the word, you can send this post that explains what we do and gives an opportunity to donate. Thank you as always for your unwavering support!

Our Future:

Dan and I have our own exciting news to share! Our baby boy was born October 2nd in Louisiana. He had a brief stay in the NICU, but is healthy and doing great. We named him Luka, which means “bringer of light.” He brings us so much light, happiness, and joy after what often felt like a long period of darkness. Much of this light is now arriving at 1am and 4am, but Dan and I couldn’t be happier to have him in our lives and we love him very much.

We are so appreciative of this community who helped us navigate the ups and downs of this process. We are forever grateful to his first mom and dad for entrusting us with him. We wouldn’t be holding our sweet Luka without their love and support. We’re looking forward to providing you with more updates as we get close to finalization in the spring!

With Love -
