Brittany & Trevor's Story of Disruptive Hope
We'd like you to meet the 12th family who Disruptive Hope has helped realize their dream to adopt. Brittany and Trevor welcomed their son Kenton after experiencing a disrupted match. We are so excited for them to share their story with you!

To Friends of Disruptive Hope -
The depths and breadths of our adoption story are filled with the continuous grace and mercies of God’s guiding hand as He led us to our son. It was not an easy road, as no adoption journey is, but one worth every closed door, heartache, and tear.
We both felt the call to adoption as part of growing a family and means of sharing God’s love prior to ever meeting each other. One of the first conversations we had about our future was the unshakable seed planted in our hearts about welcoming a child into our lives that was not biologically ours. We hoped to still be able to have biological children, and thankfully that was part of our story too. We have two beautiful and spunky girls and after a couple years of being a family of four, we knew it was time to start our adoption journey.
We officially entered the process in March of 2024. We finished our home study in October of 2024 and within a few weeks became active with a handful of adoption agencies. We received and had presented to a few cases shortly thereafter, but all these ended up being closed doors unknowingly leading us to a treacherous start to 2025. In January, Trevor’s dad became acutely ill and after three weeks of a hard-fought battle, he breathed his last breath here on earth and entered Heaven. Our world became immediately different with the loss of a parent/grandparent to our young children; we took the next few months to process, heal, and grieve together as a family and paused our adoption process.
Spring of 2025 arrived and we felt the Lord was leading us back towards becoming active again. Once we did, the Summer held a few more cases, some we presented to and still we did not match. At the end of July 2025, we matched with an expectant mom due at the beginning of January 2026. We spent the next 5 months building a relationship with her through ongoing communication and trips out of state, meanwhile preparing our hearts and home for a baby boy. We encountered subsequent losses in our family with the death of an uncle and grandmother during that time as well; we continued to hold joy, anticipation, and grief simultaneously.
The much-awaited trip to welcome our matched baby boy ended with us returning home empty-handed. We were blocks away from the hospital when we received a call from our adoption agency that the birth family chose not to proceed with the adoption plan. The emotional and financial toll felt insurmountable, and truly we had never looked more forward for a very trying season and year to end.
Again, pausing our adoption journey, we worked over the next several weeks to heal and seek the Lord and His next steps for us. We were not financially in a place to pick back up in the adoption process because the loss of our disruption was so great. That’s when we stumbled across Disruptive Hope interestingly enough on ChatGPT. We quickly connected with Katie, who encouraged us through sharing her and Dan’s story and connected us with another couple within the Disruptive Hope Network. In working with Disruptive Hope, we were recipients of funds that made it a reality for us to become active again with agencies.
Fast forward to mid-May, when we received the surprising and most welcomed call about an already born baby boy whose birth mom had picked us to be his parents. We quickly made arrangements to get to him, and he was in our arms within days. It was a beautiful whirlwind of our story and journey coming full circle. We met birth mom and witnessed her deep love for our son after placement, and we were able to express gratitude personally for this life-long honor she granted us. The timing of his entrance into our family couldn’t have been orchestrated any better. His sweetness and smiles are unending. His big sisters are smitten. Our family feels more whole with him as a part.
God redeemed us and our journey through many avenues, and Disruptive Hope was one of those. We will forever be grateful for the Disruptive Hope Network as it led us to one of our life's greatest joys.
With Love - Brittany & Trevor
